Advanced Timbercraft exhibited at the Spring House and Garden Show at the RDS, Dublin on 7th -8th March 2008. Our timberframe demonstration structure was on display with its cross sections and different insulation options which allowed our different techniques and products to be compared and explained. Many of you called in for a chat and its been great to see many of you since for a ‘tour’ of our factory and/or a typical part completed project , not forgetting the statutory cup of tea!

We have just returned from a busy 2 days at the Self Build Show, Belfast. The organisers say a whopping 16,100 people crossed the threshold during the show. We enjoyed meeting potential new clients and chatting with happy former clients. We spoke with many folks who had travelled up from the South of Ireland. Many of whom were interested in a quality product, had already received our company details, and travelled to the show specifically to see us! People generally are becoming more educated on the benefits of timberframe and are making a definite choice to go this way with their construction. Thanks to all our visitors and staff who helped to make the Show an enjoyable experience. We must also mention Damien and his crew who efficiently erected our stand prior to the Friday start. We look forward to doing it all over again in Dublin at the Spring House & Garden Show on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th March 2008.

After the Christmas break we were very glad to move into our open plan office extension, although this if not fully complete just yet. All administration and technical staff now occupy the same office space and already we’ve found communication is greatly improved. A new workstation has been included for Davy McKendry who is being very gently introduced to the wonders of his computer – the successful sending of an email producing quite a celebration from his direction!

Advanced Timbercraft took a gentle approach to their Christmas celebrations and decided a full day’s paintballing was in order – everyone was very happy to get a chance to shoot their ‘friends’. The sun shone on the war games and many injuries were incurred but everyone was able to walk away smiling with lots of stories to relate. We’d like to thank Escaramouche for a well organised event.

We would like to take this opportunity to offer our congratulations to our Technical Manager, Mr Glenn Stewart on his recent engagement to Emma. We are grateful that Glenn has at last succumbed to Emma’s charms after persistent encouragment from his colleagues to ‘get a move on’! We wish Glenn & Emma our best wishes for their upcoming wedding in 2008.

Mr Thomas Gartner from Germany arrived in full “craftsman” traditional dress to spend a busy week with us. Thomas was invited specifically to train our management, staff and employees on the correct usage of the ‘Intello’ System’ for airtightness and the High Pressure pumping of Cellulose Organic Insulation.
Everyone at Advanced Timbercraft enjoyed the time spent with Thomas and benefited greatly from his expertise and this method of training. We have formed an ongoing partnership with Thomas and expect to receive more advanced training (- next time on German soil) over the next few years.
The conclusion of the week was an afternoon seminar organised by Advanced Timbercraft for clients, architects and builders interested in the fundamentals of high quality timber frame structures in conjunction with a properly installed airtightness system. Our two guest speakers were Mr Duncan Stewart (- a well reknown Southern Architect and RTE TV presenter for a house building show called ‘About the House’); and Mr Niall Crossan (- the Technical Manager for sustainable products merchant ‘Ecological Building Systems’ in Navan). This event was very well received by all in attendence who went away with a head full of knowledge and a stomach full of goodies provided by the Advanced Timbercraft ladies.
